scarah2: I just want to make sure everyone has seen this buried subthread

We report child pornography to the NCMEC, as required by law.

Scroll down to markf's reply in particular. It's heavily implied that ponderosa121 and elaboration were reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Harry Potters Children.

I'm going to check innocence_jihad and if this isn't already there, I'm gonna crosspost it. Sorry if you see it twice, but I'm finding that a lot of people haven't lurked quite as aggressively as I have and haven't seen it.

I tend to agree with emarkienna that they may well have reported it, particularly after seeing rachel say, "if somebody flags/reports the content to lj and they review it, once it's deemed child porn (per stated above) then they can't host it. so they are legally required to take it down right away and report it.

Seems to me they report anything they're jumpy enough to yank.

i think if they did report it, someone might finally explain to them the difference between child pornography and obscene materially. i hope.

A LOT of people have tried explaining that difference, but it doesn't seem to sink in.

i know :). i suppose what i meant was "successfully explain to them." without any implication that the lack of comprehension is the fault of all of the people who have already tried to explain it.

Oh, don't worry, I think we all understand that the failure has everything to do with LJ's determination to go "La la la, we can't hear you," and nothing to do with the people explaining.

I dunno, maybe it would help for them to hear it from an authority source, and not just from us. Since, y'know, we're obviously all deviants and pervs trying to bend the law to our own wills.

But if they yank it, how can they prove that a person did anything in the first place?

where did rachel claim to be LJ staff? she's not listed on the staff page and she doesn't come across as professional in her replies.
