estioe: Official statements in the lj_biz post (title taken from the post with the links in question)

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to send you over to this post, in which the lovely user aura218 compiled a nifty list of all official statements from LJ staffers on the most recent post on lj_biz.

On a personal note, I believe that rachel isn't an official worker of LJ/SixApart.She is! Just found out. Sorry for the mix up. Also, it seems she copied word per word a paragraph from another user. Original post here and rachel's response to someone else, here. If you scroll down to the very bottom, the original writer of these words even says that she's unsettled that she was basically copied from.

If she's not actually affiliated with 6A/LJ, why does her profile indicate she has posting access at howto_userdoc, lj_abuse, lj_biz, lj_core, lj_docadmin, lj_schools, lj_support, lj_supportadmin, lj_userdoc, lj_volunteers, manage_support, and privchange?

Most of her friends are part of the senior staff, and she's living in the Bay Area, so it looks like she's legit. Unfortunately.

Yeah, I'd definitely say she is in some capacity also given the people she has friended. It almost seems like SA picks the people least able to speak publicly for them.

She is a employee.

I leave you all in the rock-solid capable hands of markf, coffeechica, and arie, and welcome Rachel (rachel), who will be the new manager of all consumer-product support for Six Apart (so, LJ and Vox). I know Rachel's really looking forward to getting to meet all of you guys and getting to know you, so expect posts from her in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the link, spuzz! I had no idea. I didn't have time to do some investigating as I was heading out the door when I posted this. I just can't believe LJ chooses the worst people to speak for them. In Hermione's words: Honestly!

And I second yours words trobadora. Oh dear. :(

Uh...I was trying to post this to mich, but it seems that the entire post has been maxed out already.

Uh, that's not quoting, hon. That's called plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined as

According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means

1. to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
2. to use (another's production) without crediting the source
3. to commit literary theft
4. to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.

In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward.

http://www.plagiarism.org/learning_center/what_is_plagiarism.html (See, *I* just quoted a webpage and gave you my source--that is quoting.)

She did not credit the source of her words. She just copy/pasted your words and then altered the subject nouns to make them sounds right in her context.

Again, LJ? You slimy bunch of CREEPY idiots.

Er, are you talking to me, or rachel? Just wanted to point out that I never said that she quoted. I said she copied (I had meant to say plagarized, but the word had skipped me when I typed this up! lol).

Anyway, agree with you 100%. She did not say that she quoted even. She just typed it up, not even a link back to the original text! (Wait, did she edit/delete and re-post her comment or something and said she was quoting? I'm behind as it is with comments!)

Never mind, she didn't. It's all the same. I'm surprised no one has made an uproar about this (or have they?). An official employee plagiarising a customer of theirs...yikes!

No, I just repo'ed my comment that I was trying to comment to the original poster. I was retarded and didn't put any special bells/whistles on my formatting. XD!

But you can be damned sure I'll point it out on fandomtossed at GJ. :-*

Is it wrong of me that my biggest problem with rachel is her complete inability to use capital letters while typing official responses to customers?

I guess it all fits in with LJ's idea of what professionalism looks like. *eyeroll*

*dies laughing* Okay, I'm looking back at some of her comments, and it's looking like she did start using proper capitalisation... after I made a snarky comment about it in a response to her. *giggles; feels oddly proud*

That really bothered me too. And, not to be too nitpick-y, but using an icon that shows you with what appears to be an alcoholic beverage while speaking without proper punctuation and, well, stealing other people's comments doesn't really scream official to me.

But I could be wrong. Because SA knows official.

That girl seriously needs to be taken off of PR. She's just an embarrassment. It's absolutely astonishing to me that someone so obviously dim is being allowed to handle "communication" (such as it is) with a lot of very pissed off and, in most cases, very eloquent customers.

And she copied that statement more than once. Evidently she really does have no brain cells of her own. She's using a combination of 6A's hive mind together with the bits she's hacked off of users.

I couldn't respond to any of rachel's posts because every time I read one by her, I immediately started frothing at the mouth. She just comes across as patronising, idiotic, insulting and hugely passive aggressive in ever single one. I've been trying to stay polite, reasonable and intelligent throughout this whole mess but knew I would get insanely angry and aggressive if I entered into a dialogue with her, so I left it alone. But yeah, someone needs to muzzle her.

I don't blame you for momentarily thinking that rachel wasn't an actual staff member, since

1) I, at least, have never seen or heard of her before,
2) she repeatedly did not answer questions such as "For clarity's sake, are you an LJ/6A staff member?", and
3) she kept referring to LJ/6A as "they".

... I had already started to develop a paranoid delusion based around the idea that LJ/6A wanted to appear as inept as possible. SO FAR THEY ARE ONLY MAKING IT STRONGER.

Wow. Idiocy and plagiarism and child-endangerment abound in those posts. It's incredible to see just how much gasoline SixApart's staff are pouring all over this fire. What next, a little napalm?

They wouldn't know professionalism if it bit them in the ass.

rachel's C&Ped plagiarism of michalyn's comments is ridiculously unprofessional.

I'm not seeing any comment like that in the linked threads. It appears that someone deleted or screened it?

Really? Then it must have either been deleted by the commenter themself or someone on LJ staff. 0.0
