atrata: brief morning linkage

Today is not the day I wanted to wake up with a migraine. Not on, brain. Not on. Perhaps my fannish love has grown so large that my head is going to explode?

A few quick things, though, before I go back to bed.

Someone left a comment saying that Insanejournal is owned by SixApart. I have been unable to verify this, though I spent all of two minutes trying. The whois information on the sites is completely different; LJ clearly states it's owned by 6A, whereas IJ is owned by Jason Vervlied. Google tells me he's a unix dude down in Florida. So I don't know if this is a rumor that needs quashing or if we should look into it more or what. But that's what I've got this morning. If it's true, then obviously we don't want to be migrating to IJ.

fanthropology has a post with some ideas about short-term solutions for staying in touch and making it easier for people to find you. To that end, beyond_lj has been set up so that you can leave your LJ username and any new usernames you're using with other services.

Collapsing now. More later. Love.

It's a lie. I am Jason Vervlied and I myself own InsaneJournal. And right now with the way the site is growing, there is no way that I am going to sell it to anyone including 6A.

I think brad made the worst decision of his life selling this site.

So yes you can take it from me that InsaneJournal is NOT affiliated with 6A in any way shape or form.

P.S. - Thanks for calling me a UNIX dude, thats awesome!

That's a relief. Now, about IJ going down every night around 9 PM pacific time... any way you can avoid that?

Mon, Aug. 6th, 2007 05:01 pm (UTC)

I am working on that right now. Let me know if it happens again tonight, as I think I found the problem and corrected it.

If it does I am going to have to take more severe actions. Tonight i can't because I have to finish my move into my new house. in fact please let me know if you can't get on tonight after 9PM (12AM EST)

Thank you for that! I shall certainly be checking that out and dropping you a line, one way or the other. :) (Love IJ, btw!)

Well, it's 12:21, EDT, and IJ appears to be working nicely, at the moment. (LJ, on the other hand, is a bit off.) Thank you for whatever you did to fix the problem! :)

Any plans to implement the option to block indexing by search engines?

I don't know if it's an active piece of code, but they do have the check off box for minimizing your presence to search engines.
